Down The Line was realized by Paul Sobczak for an exhibit at the Plains Art Museums annual L.I.V.E event, in Fargo, ND.
An audio compilation of the messages is available here.
Down The Line was created using the open source PBX system trixbox. Incoming phone calls are routed to a remote voip server, from this server the call gets routed to the trixbox server. The trixbox server then plays the last messages left on the machine and records the next one. After a messages is left on the trixbox server, it automatically emails me the message in a 8000Hz, 8bit, mono, windows PCM wave file.
